Activision Blizzard and Microsoft Deal Is Moving Very Quickly
Brad Smith, Vice-Chair and President of Microsoft, in an interview with the Belgian site L'Echo, revealed the details of moving forward with the deal with Activision Blizzard. Smith believes the process is extremely fast for an acquisition of this magnitude. The legal procedure is already approaching its middle.
Smith has extensive experience in the legal field, and this makes his assessment as accurate as possible. There are a lot of questions about this issue right now. For example, the company received relevant questions both in Brussels, where the interview was given to the L'Echo magazine, as well as in Washington and London. Smith considers that it is his duty to provide full access to information related to the stages of this deal.
One of Microsoft's lawyers gave a very accurate assessment of the process, saying that the company has completed the initial phase of the transaction and has entered its middle phase. Also, he added that everyone should understand that this cannot be a quick process, and therefore he is forced to answer such questions for the time being in order to clarify what is happening. Of course, all parties are interested in the deal taking place as soon as possible.
The news in early 2022 that Microsoft would buy Activision Blizzard for almost $70 billion has shook the internet. The scale of the deal does not allow it to be completed before the beginning of 2023. The main obstacle for Microsoft was the consent of Blizzard shareholders, but this has already been resolved and now all that remains is to deal with the Federal Trade Commission of the US.
Will this deal be fruitful for the further development of Activision Blizzard products? Will the lawyers have enough time to complete the procedure by 2023? Please share your thoughts below.
